Rescued Lions and Big Cat Art: A Safe Haven Worth Roaring About

Updated: Mar 25

Last year, I took part in a fundraiser for The Big Cat Sanctuary (BCS), donating one of my original big cat artworks to support the rescue of lions from war-torn Ukraine.

I'm thrilled to share that all five lions - Yuna, Rori, Vanda, Amani, and Lira - have safely arrived at their new forever home in Kent.

Each of these incredible big cats has endured unimaginable hardship. Yuna, for instance, was rescued from an abandoned home in Kyiv, confined to a concrete enclosure. Now, at BCS, she’s got fresh air, proper space, and actual grass under her paws for the first time.

It’s been an honour to support this mission. Some of my lovely commissioned clients gave more than I asked for - and I passed that kindness straight on to the lions. Plus, every sale of my big cat prints helps fund the work BCS does to care for endangered cats.

If you love wildlife art and want to support lion conservation, you can browse my collection of big cat prints in my online store.

I’ll be joining the fundraiser again this year, so if you’re a fan of big cat art and want to help conservation, keep an eye out.

For now, let’s just take a moment to celebrate: Yuna, Rori, Vanda, Amani, and Lira are finally safe. And for an animal artist who spends her days drawing whiskers and fur and soulful eyes, that feels pretty wonderful.
